James Gibbs and Sandie Rocca, founders of Future Farms. Having tried to grow our own leafy greens and researched who the local growers are, we discovered that the few commercial local growers the region had have closed business because of the drought and that the majority of our leafy greens are coming from interstate.
Indoor controlled environment farming is a growing sustainable model of farming and a way to provide local, all year around, clean leafy green to our plate. We believe in “local” “sustainable” and “natural”.
We care about what those things stand for: flavour and nutrition, preserving water and soil resources, biodiversity, reducing harmful chemical use in food production, and spending our dollars closer to home.
James is a seafarer and has had the opportunity to explore many continents over the last 10 years. He’s seen first-hand the consequences of Climate change, which has made his interest in sustainability solutions his priority since coming back on terra-firma.
Sandie is a business manager. She’s worked in many industries and the latest to date is the Music Industry, managing a well-known and busy Australian singer/songwriter.
James’ hobbies: gardening, photography, and archery and Sandie’s hobbies: horse riding, pottery and gardening.
The BVIH is a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded people, have access to a well selected pool of mentors and professionals, allowing us to accelerate the development of our business idea.
