Gina will share the highs and lows of building up her award-winning security business from scratch.

You will also have the chance to hear from NSW Minister for Women Tanya Davies on the NSW Women’s Strategy and increasing women’s access to a wide range of careers.

This is a free event co-hosted by The University of Wollongong’s iAccelerate, the Sydney School of Entrepreneurship (SSE) and Women NSW.

Tanya Davies is the Member for Mulgoa and the NSW Minister for Women, Mental Health and Ageing in the Berejiklian Government.

Tanya is a working mother, raising her two young children in Western Sydney with husband Mark. Prior to being sworn in as NSW Minister for Mental Health, Ageing and Women, Tanya was Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Affairs and Homelessness, and has been the local member for Mulgoa since 2011. Prior to entering politics, Tanya worked in higher education including at the University of Western Sydney, Macquarie University and Western Sydney Institute of TAFE.

In her role as Minister for Women, Tanya represents around 3.8 million women across NSW. She is committed to hearing first-hand about the issues that affect them every day and is passionate about building an equitable and inclusive society where all women are valued and have the opportunity to thrive.

An area of particular interest for Tanya is helping women to support each other, especially in professional settings. She believes women can be immensely valuable to each other by standing together to develop strong support networks where women can fulfil their potential, both personally and professionally.

Tanya is also passionate about empowering young women, and takes every opportunity to speak to young people about her experiences and to encourage young women and men to have confidence, work hard and be lifelong learners.

Gina Field was the 2017 Business Woman of the Year. She is an exceptional business woman who built a respected and award-winning security business from scratch. She encourages girls to venture into male dominated employment fields and strive for excellence in business. Gina is also the President of the Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce, where she is considered a ‘pocket rocket’ in the business community and is a champion for women chasing their dreams. Her insights into building local business networks is invaluable for anyone growing a new business. Gina will share the highs and lows of building up her security business and her experiences of female entrepreneurship in action.
